Design Task

For this 11,700 square-foot ED expansion, a key project goal was to develop artwork that celebrated Sacramento and the numerous landmarks, experiences and outdoor activities that make the area such a wonderful place to live. In addition, artwork that was calm, soothing, and uplifting for patients and staff throughout the entire expansion also guided the selection process. Rounding out the collection was lush nature imagery in the waiting and reception area, montage photography in the pedestrian walkway, and beautiful landscapes in the treatment rooms. Artwork from 9 regional artists featured throughout the main clinical areas culminates in a show-stopping 21’ mural from Sacramento artist, Maren Conrad. The local artists also included James Mims, one of the site's own ED nurses, who has two photographs included in the collection.
