Design Task

For this new 24,538 sq/ft adult and pediatric Behavioral Health space, ACS worked with the interiors team and KP leadership to provide a dynamic and meaningful artwork collection. The adult-side corridors featured works from regional artists and the pediatric corridors featured whimsical abstract watercolors along with an in-house custom designed solution depicting a space and bubbles style design. It was important that the pediatric area was all-age appropriate so the 17-year-old teens still felt comfortable and welcome along with the younger children. During project discovery, ACS learned that the site served LQBTQ+ adults and teens. Commissioning a mural to reflect a range of skin tones, religions, ages, and ambulation abilities, and an eggshell piece in a rainbow gradient with an artist statement as a metaphor for seeing what others call "broken" as actually "stronger and more beautiful" were just two of the ways this unique collection was created to enhance the mission of this important space. Additional in-house design concepts can be found throughout the site including montages with local imagery and a word wall. To finish off this amazing collection, ACS also provided beautiful photography artwork for the 49 provider offices.
